What a great game! I feel like Gus Johnson should be the announcer on every major event ever. He brings such an energy, even when he's not the most knowledgeable guy about a sport, he seems like he cares both ways about the outcome. I swear, he could make a knitting festival exciiting.
On the subject of the game, 3 days later I still don't know what the hell Iker was doing on the Atletico goal. I don't know that I've ever seen a gk misplay one that badly!
Ronaldo didn't play particularly well. He and Bale both seemed off the entire game, Bale's shots were just so badly off target. Bale, however, made a great play on the go-ahead goal. Trailing a ball like that is no easy task, especially with a defender right on top of you, and his timing and header were pure class.
Pretty much all the good word is being said about Di Maria, and for very good reason. He was the game changer for Real, all over the pitch making things happen.
I'm a slight Real fan, I don't follow them as closely as say, Internazionale. They didn't really deserve to win the game for the first hour. They tired Atletico out after that though, once they started forcing the play in their form.
It was a fun Champions League season, hopefully the World Cup serves us up some more joy. Also, hopefully, Ronaldo doesn't get even more fire for the WC after this. We have to play Portugal in the group stage, heh.
